Thorburn, M. (1990 - 2001) Physical Education in-service sessions to suit different Local Authority needs on a range of curriculum issues / needs, for example, on ‘How to mark Investigations and Analysis of Performance scripts at Higher Level’. Other presentations of ‘Course Design’ ‘Managing Course Assessment and on ‘Preparing Teaching and Learning Resources’ have been undertaken. These in-service presentations, some 50 days in total, have taken place in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Fife, Glasgow, Highland, North Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire.

Chairperson of the Activ 8 Grampian Region Sports Development Initiative in Snowsports
(1995 - 1999). Part of Lottery Planning Group that was successful in attracting £56,000 of funding for the eight different Sports for 1999 - 2000.

Various meetings with Scottish Sports Council to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of School Sports Coordinators in Schools (1996 - 1999). Banchory Academy was one of two Scottish Schools selected to pilot this initiative.

Consultant to the Scottish Badminton Union (SBU) for the editing of materials for the Teacher’s Curriculum Award, 2000-2001.
